Oil…a resource
destined to lead man to progress
and well-being will also lead
to his/her destruction.

For this piece I used two standard 55-gallon steel oil drums stacked together, one on top of the other, to give a sense of height to my
work.
At the bottom is an oil spill and its impact on the environment. The bird is trapped in an oil spill while desperately trying to dry its feathers, hoping for a saving flight.
The drums show our skies and the consequences of oil use, with the damage done to air quality, that is transformed into air pollution.
You see bullet marks as if you were looking through a window to clear skies, these represent the oil wars in today’s
World.

Paradox of Plenty by Corina Alvarezdelugo of Branford depicts a struggling bird mired in pollution as the sky radiates atmospheric smog but promises hope in the upper half of the two-stacked drums.” - Greg Mirman, Producer CBS Early Show.
