ARTIST STATEMENT

I am a sculptor and mixed media painter. Self-expression has always been the driving force in my art, so I organically shift between media to give voice to my ideas. Whether in terracotta, stoneware, charcoal, encaustic, printmaking, watercolor or oil paints, I select the medium that best allows me to develop my thoughts and observations.

I find inspiration everywhere. By working directly from my experiences and observations of the natural world, I simplify my subjects to their most essential form. I always try to capture the essence of an object, mood, person or place. The resulting artwork describes a specific expression, texture, color and shape that I’ve witnessed.
